Babra Sharif’s Views on the Decline of the Film Industry

Babra Sharif, a former Pakistani film and television actress and producer, was a leading lady in the Pakistani film industry. Although Babra Sharif is no longer active in the film industry, she frequently appears at award shows, interviews, and various events.
Recently, Babra Sharif attended a movie launch event organized by filmmaker Altaf Hussain, where she shared her thoughts on the state of the film industry and its revival. In an interview with Moeen Zubair, she expressed her concerns about the industry’s decline.
Sharif emphasized the importance of unity within the industry, saying, “We never focused on regional divides like Karachi, Peshawar, or Lahore; we worked for the betterment of our entire industry. Discussing these divisions is unproductive. We are here today because of Altaf Hussain, who has taught us so much. When it comes to reviving the film industry, you can’t do it without watching movies. Altaf Hussain’s films always carried social messages and avoided violence. He taught me rhythm and dance, and he continues to strive for the industry’s revival. Revival isn’t an overnight change; it’s about the collective efforts we all put in. These are small steps towards a bigger goal. We never engaged in divisive talk within the industry. Let’s not fall into that trap now. Keep making films, and I hope Altaf Hussain will once again produce the kind of excellent movies he was known for.”
