“Being Famous and Being an Actor Are Not the Same,” Says Sami Khan

Sami Khan highlighted the differences between being an artist and gaining fame during an interview with Jawad Bashir on YouTube. Drawing from his experience as a seasoned actor, Khan shared insights on how social media is reshaping the entertainment industry.

“There is a stark difference between being an actor and being famous,” Khan stated. “Many platforms can make you famous. Going viral online grants fame, but being an artist is entirely different. I sometimes wonder if talented individuals exist who never got the opportunity to shine. And yes, luck plays a role in this process.”

Khan praised his Tau Dil Ka Kia Hua co-star, Imran Ashraf, as an example of a “wonderful actor.” Recalling their time together in a play in Thailand, he expressed his admiration for Ashraf’s performance.

“After filming a scene with him, I told him, ‘Keep at it, and one day you’ll make it big.’ And he did. Masha Allah, today he’s a big star. He put in the effort, and he has the skills too,” Khan said.

The Aik Chubhan Si actor pointed out that people often focus on a celebrity’s stardom rather than the hard work behind it. He emphasized that true artistry lies in identifying one’s talent.

“You need to be a good actor first, and being a good person is a bonus,” he added. “Talent never fades. One way or another, you’ll get there.”

Khan also commented on the rising popularity of negative characters in drama serials, calling it a flaw in current storytelling. “Our goal should be to win hearts, but instead, people end up admiring the heartbreakers,” he remarked.

Having portrayed a similar role in Khudgarz, Khan stressed the importance of giving negative characters a redemption arc before allowing audiences to sympathize with them. “They must pay for their actions. You can’t just overlook their development,” he asserted.

Admitting that villains often have a greater scope for performance than heroes, Khan insisted on presenting them properly. “Karma is real,” he concluded.
