Deepak Perwani Condemns Forced Conversions of Hindu Girls in Pakistan

Prominent figure in Pakistan’s fashion industry, Deepak Perwani, recently took a bold stance against the pervasive issue of forced conversions in the country. Using his social media platform, Perwani condemned the practice, emphasizing the plight of Hindu girls forced to convert for marriage to Muslim men.

In a powerful post on X, Perwani highlighted the disturbing trend of coercing Hindu girls into conversion for marriage. He pointed out the imbalance and injustice in such situations, criticizing the prevailing state of affairs in Pakistan. Perwani called for an end to forced conversions and condemned the apparent inaction of responsible authorities.

The designer queried, “So only Hindu girls want to convert to marry Muslims in Pakistan, and no Muslim girl ever converts to marry a Hindu in Pakistan?” He emphasized the need to stop forced conversions, stating it’s a dark reality that Pakistan must change to move forward. Perwani concluded his message with the hashtag ‘HRCP’ and the phrase ‘shame on,’ expressing his dismay with the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

Despite potential personal risk as a member of the Hindu Sindhi community in Pakistan, Perwani chose to raise his voice against forced conversions, given the sensitive nature of the subject. Deepak Perwani, recognized for his significant influence and outspokenness on social issues, has utilized his social media presence, particularly on X, to express opinions on various socio-political matters. Previously addressing topics such as economic policies, governance, and the advent of international brands in Pakistan, Perwani’s recent commentary on forced conversions exemplifies his commitment to bringing attention to critical societal issues that urgently require redressal.
