Hajra Yamin Reveals Drama Channels Earn Millions From YouTube But Don’t Pay Actors

Pakistani drama channels have reached new heights in the last five years. The content has grown in both quality and reach, attracting a global audience. These shows have gained massive popularity thanks to the rise of social media. For example, “Ishq Murshid” on Hum TV, “Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum” on ARY, and “Kaffara” on Geo all garnered millions of views per episode for their respective channels.

YouTube has become a lucrative platform for making money, and these channels also upload all their content there. This has not only increased the audience for these dramas but also opened a new revenue stream for the channels. While speaking to YouTuber Talha Ahad, Hajra Yamin discussed the average money a channel makes on YouTube. However, the revenue is not shared with the artists.

He revealed that “a channel on average makes 8-9 million dollars per month from YouTube and this amount could be even greater than this. A big reason why many artists are calling for royalties.”
