Iffat Omar ‘Politely’ Turns Down Punjab Govt’s Offer to Serve as Cultural Adviser

Prominent former actor and model Iffat Omar has politely declined an offer from the Punjab government to serve as the cultural adviser to Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari. The development comes after widespread media reports suggested that Omar had been appointed to the position, where she would work with the ministry on initiatives to highlight and preserve Punjab’s rich cultural traditions.
Responding to the news, Iffat confirmed, “I’ve humbly declined the offer,” effectively ending speculation surrounding her involvement with the provincial administration. The government had reportedly envisioned her contribution in crafting programs that celebrate Punjab’s artistic and cultural heritage, but Omar chose to step away from the opportunity.
Iffat Omar, known for her bold voice and strong opinions on societal issues, had previously announced in 2022 her departure from mainstream acting, citing a lack of quality work in the entertainment industry. She expressed that continuing in an industry she openly critiques felt contradictory. However, she also left the door open for a potential return to acting, contingent on being offered a compelling and meaningful script.
Currently, Omar is actively engaged in digital media. She runs a popular YouTube podcast titled Say It All With Iffat Omar, where she hosts thought-provoking discussions with professionals from diverse backgrounds. Her shift to digital content reflects a broader move toward platforms that allow creative freedom and direct engagement with audiences.
As of now, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has not issued an official comment on Iffat’s decision.
