Iffat Omer Answers Haters with ‘My Age, My Choice’

Despite the sensitivity of the matter, ageism continues to affect women in showbiz. Pakistani actor Sania Saeed recently highlighted the limited opportunities for older women in acting despite their wealth of experience.
Iffat Omar has added her voice to the opposition against age- and gender-related prejudices. The former Pakistani model and actor boldly posted a vibrant video montage on Instagram featuring herself in a stunning pink saree.
The caption, “Meri age meri marzi (my age my choice), so please go live your life and stop schooling me on how I should act according to my age,” accompanied the impactful montage.
Iffat has also shared her views on feminism, Pakistani politics, and her experiences in the media.
She discussed the prevalent culture in Pakistan regarding Urdu dramas and recounted encounters with an ‘elitist crowd’ in Karachi who mocked her Punjabi accent, limited Urdu proficiency, and other aspects, including her lack of proficiency in English.
