Mahira Khan Breaks Silence on Rift with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar

Mahira Khan has finally addressed her long-standing rift with controversial writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, openly admitting her own mistake.

Speaking on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Mahira clarified their dynamic, saying, “We were never close friends, but we completed our Sadqay Tumhare journey with love and sincerity.” She then candidly admitted, “Yes, I was wrong. I should’ve messaged him directly instead of tweeting. He’s absolutely right.”

Mahira explained that while filming Neelofar, she came across late-night reports about Qamar’s alleged misconduct. Reacting impulsively, she tweeted without verifying the full context. “I just wanted to raise my voice against injustice,” she said, acknowledging that the tweet unnecessarily fueled controversy.

She credited her mother for helping her reflect. “My mom told me I should’ve spoken to him directly, especially since he’s a senior. You can disagree, but with respect.”

Mahira also addressed veteran actor Firdous Jamal’s repeated criticism of her lead roles. While such remarks hurt her early in her career, she said she’s grown resilient. “When you’re just a little successful, people support you. But once you really succeed, they start to feel threatened and speak against you.”

She added that some critics don’t even know her personally. Recalling the time around Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Mahira said it was especially difficult dealing with negativity from within the industry.

Mahira is now gearing up for her upcoming Eid-ul-Azha release, Love Guru, opposite Humayun Saeed.
