Mahira Khan Shares She Missed Indian Web Series Offer 15 Years Ago
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently revealed that she received an offer for the popular web series Heeramandi 15 years ago.
During a recent interview, Mahira shared that the opportunity arose while she was in Mumbai for a friend’s wedding. Her friend, who was at renowned designers Rizwan and Moin Baig’s studio selecting a wedding outfit, mentioned Mahira when the conversation turned to the search for a Pakistani actress.
At the time, Mahira was a well-known TV VJ. This recommendation led to a meeting with acclaimed Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who showed interest in casting her for Heeramandi.
However, the offer fell through due to escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan following the Taj incident. Bhansali’s focus on launching Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s debut film further delayed any collaboration.
Mahira, who later made her Bollywood debut with Raees, reflected on the missed opportunity as a significant moment in her career journey.
