Maryam Noor Breaks Silence on Superficial Media Friendships and Industry Reality

Popular actress and model Maryam Noor has opened up about the harsh truths of the entertainment industry, calling out the superficial nature of friendships in showbiz.
Maryam Noor, a well-known face in Pakistani television and a qualified lawyer by education, recently appeared on the FHM podcast where she shared candid insights about her professional journey and personal life. The actress, who is married to pilot Ismail Butt and recently welcomed their son Nayel, didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the realities of being in showbiz.
Having spent several years in the entertainment industry, Maryam revealed that most friendships in media are transactional. According to her, people in the industry tend to stay connected only as long as they’re on the same professional level. The moment someone lands a better opportunity or climbs the fame ladder, they abandon old connections in pursuit of more “influential” acquaintances. This revelation underscores the cutthroat nature of the industry, where relationships often hinge on relevance and utility rather than genuine connection.
Maryam further emphasized that those entering or already part of the media world should be cautious. She shared her own experiences, explaining that individuals who were once helped or mentored often turn away once they achieve success. Her advice was blunt but practical—don’t get emotionally attached. Instead, understand the game and play it accordingly. She admitted to being emotionally invested in friendships herself, only to be disappointed, and urged others not to make the same mistake.
