Maya Ali Says ‘People taunt me for not being married’

Renowned actress Maya Ali has revealed that she is often taunted for being unmarried, especially after her younger brother got married.

Maya appeared on Nida Yasir’s Ramzan show with her cousins and family, where she openly shared her childhood memories and personal life.

When asked about marriage, she expressed her belief that destiny determines everything. “I believe that whatever is written in my destiny will happen,” she said. She further questioned why people don’t apply the same belief to marriage, stating, “As Muslims, we believe that everything is already written for us, so why don’t people understand that marriage will happen when it’s destined?”

She revealed that people frequently taunt her for remaining unmarried. “People say, ‘Your younger brother is married, why aren’t you?’ But what can I do? It will happen when it’s meant to happen,” she said.

Making her stance clear, she emphasized that she won’t marry just for the sake of it. “I will only get married when I find someone I truly like and feel a connection with,” she asserted.

Discussing relationships, Maya explained how age brings realism. “With age, a person becomes more realistic. The fever of love also subsides. So, when I feel that a good person has entered my life, I will get married,” she shared.

She also mentioned that her mother prays for her marriage in every prayer but admitted, “I can’t convince my elders that I won’t get married just for show.”

Maya Ali highlighted her preference for a partner who values both her career and her family, especially her mother. “I will marry a person who understands the importance of a woman and her work, as well as supports her. That is the right of every woman,” she stated.

Addressing rumours, she clarified, “I have not set any deadline or time for marriage. When I find the right person, and my heart tells me it’s time, only then will I get married—and no one will even know until then!”
