Sara Khan’s Feminism Remarks Ignite Online Debate

Sara Khan sparked online backlash after declaring in an interview that she isn’t a feminist and prefers being viewed as a “traditional” woman.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, the actress said she doesn’t identify as a “big feminist” and instead believes in conventional gender roles.

She stated that men should hold the traditional roles “reserved for them” so that women can live peacefully.

“I’m a woman who stays at home. I don’t like standing in bill queues. I want to be treated like traditional women were,” she said.

Her remarks quickly went viral, triggering widespread criticism on social media.

One user pointed out that feminism is about standing up for oppressed women, not bill queues. Others said this mindset holds Pakistan back by limiting women’s roles in society.

Addressing India’s ban on Instagram accounts of Pakistani stars, Sara said she only found out when her husband, Falak Shabbir, showed her a screenshot.

“I didn’t take it personally,” she said. “But I felt sad for my Indian fans who can no longer see me on Instagram.”
