Simi Raheal Opens Up on Industry’s Unfair Treatment With Seniors

Pakistani television actress Simi Raheal is a gifted individual. She has more experience in the field than anyone else. Simi Raheal always chooses her characters carefully and is quite choosy in her work. Ishq E Laa, Anaa, and Sabaat were her most recent and well-liked dramas. All of these dramas received a lot of positive public attention and viewership.

Simi Raheal recently made an appearance on the show of Fuchsia Magazine where she spoke with senior actors about the unfair treatment of the industry. She said, “First of all let me tell you that there is nothing like fair treatment in this world, the word ‘Fair’ doesn’t even exist, the answer is, no, the treatment is not at all fair, how can you acknowledge someone’s journey?

You don’t simply say, “We respect you,” or go to someone’s house and give them a branded suit. This is outright contempt if you don’t show your seniors the kind of deference they deserve. It should be the actors’ choice to reject the characters, but here actors can’t choose because of their bread and butter, they are forced to do the same stories. In our industry, the scripts are not written for senior actors; in other parts of the world, people tell different stories, we don’t tell different stories.

She said, “During PTV’s time, things were relatively alright, there were not many financial concerns, creative work was being done, but after the advertising sector took over, things changed totally. The advertisements require young faces because they are sold.”
