Zhalay Sarhadi Asks Why Auditions Were Conducted for ‘Selahaddin Eyyubi’ Without Receiving a Response

Fans are buzzing with anticipation over a highly awaited historical series that explores the life of Selahaddin Eyyubi. The project, known as ‘Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi,’ is all set to depict the historical account of the renowned commander’s conquest of Jerusalem during the Crusades. The series is set to premiere on November 13 this year on TRT 1, a Turkish television network. Yet, controversy surrounds the casting process for specific roles. Pakistani star Zhalay Sarhadi expressed her concerns on Instagram.

Sarhadi was confused about the auditions for the project. Some people were told they got selected but didn’t know what role they would play. They were informed about their selection at an event and through WhatsApp messages. However, they haven’t received any more information about their roles, which has left aspiring actors uncertain.

“I am still wondering why auditions were kept for this project and people were ‘selected’, (after much deliberation),” said Sarhadi, “As most never got an answer to why they were told that they were chosen in a publicised ceremony (also continually over and over again on a WhatsApp group) to be a part of this and then were never contacted even after being awarded with a ‘golden ticket?’ Asking for a friend.”

Pakistan and Turkish entertainment industry veterans are working together on the historical series, which showcases well-known actors like Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Dr. Kashif Ansari, Ahmet Faruk Bakacak, and Dr. Junaid Ali Shah. This project represents an ambitious and massive endeavour to portray history on screen.
