Richa Chadha, known for her stellar performances in films like “Ram Leela” and “Fukrey,” shared a delightful anecdote about her mother’s initial reaction to her relationship with Ali Fazal. During a recent podcast interview, Richa revealed that her mother was taken aback when she first learned about her daughter’s budding romance. She recalled the moment, saying, “When I first told my mom that ‘I am starting to date this guy,’ she called me very alarmed.”

The source of Richa’s mother’s concern was the strikingly similar names of Ali Fazal and Ali Zafar. Richa explained, “She said, ‘I don’t know if you know that he is married and he has two kids.’ I was like, ‘What?!’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, he is from Lahore, he is married and he has two kids.’ I said, ‘No, it’s not that guy.'” The confusion between the two actors, Ali Fazal and Ali Zafar, is a common mix-up in the world of Bollywood.

After introducing her mother to Ali Fazal in person, Richa Chadha’s mother was charmed by him, and her initial concerns transformed into wholehearted support for their relationship. The couple, famously known for their roles in “Fukrey,” has been together for ten years, and after two years of courtship, they celebrated their marriage in October of the previous year.

Earlier, a mix-up unfolded on Twitter when journalist Prashant Jain announced the wedding plans of Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal but inadvertently tagged Ali Zafar. Chadha, known for her wit, promptly responded by saying, “Ali Zafar is a Pakistani singer, and actor, who is already married,” accompanied by a thinking face emoji. Her humorous yet clear clarification left no room for confusion.

Ali Zafar, the Pakistani singer, showed his sportsmanship and responded with a sense of humor. He shared Richa Chadha’s tweet, adding, “Phew! Thank you for the clarification,” with a cool boss-face emoji. This lighthearted exchange between the two Alis added a touch of fun to the confusion.
