Boycott Calls Intensify Against ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ After Pahalgam Tragedy

The release of Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, is facing growing backlash as calls for a boycott spread online following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident, which resulted in the death of 26 innocent tourists, has sparked widespread outrage, and some social media users have begun targeting the film, demanding its release be cancelled or postponed.
Despite the controversy, the production of Sardaar Ji 3 has been officially completed, and the film is slated for a theatrical release on June 27. Diljit Dosanjh, known for his charismatic presence and unique promotional style, shared the news with his followers through Instagram. Posing on a motorcycle in a rugged leather jacket, Dosanjh announced the wrap-up with his trademark humor and heartfelt gratitude to his team, adding, “Sari team ne baut mehnat kiti aa… Milde an theaters ch!”
The Sardaar Ji franchise, which began in 2015, holds a special place in Punjabi cinema history. The original movie broke new ground as one of the industry’s first fantasy horror comedies, featuring an eccentric ghostbuster on a mission that quickly turns into a romantic, supernatural escapade. Its commercial success led to the 2016 sequel Sardaar Ji 2, where Diljit took on multiple roles in a story centered around a farmer’s international journey to save his village.
With Hania Aamir joining the beloved franchise for its third installment, anticipation had been sky-high among fans across borders. However, the timing of the film’s promotion amidst national mourning has turned the spotlight away from its cinematic appeal to political and emotional sensitivities.
As Sardaar Ji 3 gears up for release, its fate at the box office now depends not just on its entertainment value but also on how the controversy surrounding it unfolds in the coming weeks.
