Hania Aamir Joins Diljit in ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ — Film to Release Overseas Due to India-Pak Row

Punjabi cinema’s powerhouse, Diljit Dosanjh, is back to tickle funny bones and chase ghosts once again with his latest comedy-horror, Sardaar Ji 3. The trailer has dropped — and while fans are thrilled, the release has sparked debate, especially over its star-studded cross-border cast, including Pakistan’s very own Hania Aamir. Amid rising Indo-Pak tensions, the film has taken the overseas route, avoiding an Indian release for now.
The trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 brings back Diljit in his signature role as the spirited ghost hunter ‘Jaggi’. Set in the UK, the film follows his quirky encounters inside a haunted mansion. This time, he’s joined by Hania Aamir in a prominent role — a move that ended weeks of speculation about her involvement. Alongside Hania, the film also features popular Pakistani actors Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela, strengthening the cross-cultural collaboration.
However, Indian audiences have hit a digital wall. The trailer, uploaded on YouTube, shows the message:
“The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”
This selective restriction raised eyebrows, particularly because teasers and songs from the film are still accessible in India. Insiders claim this strategic move stems from diplomatic sensitivities that intensified after the Pahalgam attacks and Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. As a result, Indian authorities even blocked social media accounts of Pakistani celebrities, including Hania Aamir.
The backlash didn’t stop there. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a public statement urging the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold clearance for Sardaar Ji 3, citing the participation of Pakistani talent. With domestic protests and delays looming large, the producers opted to release the film internationally, steering clear of India altogether.
Despite the tensions, Sardaar Ji 3 boasts an impressive lineup: Neeru Bajwa, Jasmin Bajwa, Gulshan Grover, and Manav Vij join the cast, promising a rollercoaster of laughs and scares. The film, directed by Amar Hundal and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Singh Sidhu, is set to hit international screens on June 27, 2025.
While some fans applaud the bold casting and storyline, others are divided over the inclusion of Pakistani actors during politically sensitive times. But love him or hate him, Diljit’s Sardaar Ji 3 is once again making headlines — this time, not just for ghostbusting, but for border-breaking.
