Love Guru Triumphs Over Housefull 5 at UK Box Office

Love Guru Beats Housefull 5 — the headline is making waves across South Asia and beyond, as Pakistani cinema scores a landmark win at the UK box office. Love Guru, the romantic comedy backed by producers Humayun Saeed and Salman Iqbal, has emerged as a commercial juggernaut, even eclipsing Bollywood giant Housefull 5, led by superstar Akshay Kumar.
A Pakistani Blockbuster Rises
Written by Vasay Chaudhary and directed by Nadeem Baig, Love Guru features a star-studded ensemble including Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Ramsha Khan, and Javed Sheikh. The film delivers a wholesome blend of family-friendly humor, romance, and cultural charm — a refreshing change for many viewers tired of formulaic comedy sequels.
Within just nine days, Love Guru grossed over £266,000 (around PKR 10 crore) in the UK. In its second weekend alone, it pulled in £75k, beating Housefull 5 which earned £56k during the same time — a £19k lead that shocked many in the industry.
Audience Applause and Online Buzz
Social media has exploded with praise for the film. One viewer tweeted, “Just watched Love Guru — it’s absolutely worth watching. Loved every bit of it.” Another added, “No cheap comedy, no vulgarity — finally something I could watch with my family.”
Of course, not everyone was quick to accept the film’s success. Skeptics argued that comparing Love Guru to a big-banner Bollywood film is “unfair,” citing Akshay Kumar’s prolific yearly releases. But loyal fans were quick to counter, stating that Love Guru beats Housefull 5 not just in numbers, but in quality and authenticity.
