Zainab Abbas, a prominent Pakistani sports presenter, recently found herself in the midst of a storm of controversy as she prepared to host the ICC World Cup for the first time. However, her excitement was short-lived when her old anti-Indian tweets from the past resurfaced on social media upon her arrival in India for the Cricket World Cup. The revelation of Zainab Abbas’s anti-Indian tweets ignited a heated debate on the internet, dividing opinions and prompting discussions about accountability and forgiveness.
Zainab Abbas’s Anti-Indian Tweets Resurface
As Zainab Abbas arrived in India for her role in presenting the ICC World Cup, social media users quickly unearthed a series of tweets she had posted years ago, expressing critical views about India and Hinduism. These tweets sparked outrage among many Indian netizens who felt offended and hurt by her past statements. The controversy snowballed as the tweets circulated widely, leading to a renewed discussion about the responsibility public figures hold for their previous statements.
Absolute nonsense.
I know these tweets are old but I don’t think she has changed much. Even the Pakistan captain slammed her in 2018.
Glad to know she has left India.

Internet Reacts to the Incident
The revelation of Zainab Abbas’ old tweets led to a diverse range of reactions on social media. Some defended her, emphasizing that these tweets were from a decade ago and suggested that people can change over time. Others, however, demanded a public apology, asserting that such remarks should be addressed and clarified.
The news of Zainab Abbas being deported is very sad. People need to understand that we do evolve and grow with time. I’m sure when she tweeted that stuff, she was just a cricket fan like we all are.

To add to this: people evolve and their bigoted & problematic stances change. However, when such statements are dug up (as they are: this is not a new phenomenon), it is your responsibility to apologize immediately. https://t.co/wDKsBvX9kf
