Ayesha Omar Highlights Common Negative Depictions of Pakistan in the Media

In a candid interview with Independent Urdu, Ayesha Omar emphasized the significance of diverse characters in films, particularly discussing her role as a journalist in Dhai Chaal’ and the crucial role played by antagonists in dramas or films.

Omar expresses confidence in conveying Pakistan’s message through her film. Regarding her role as a journalist in ‘Dhai Chaal,’ she emphasizes the enjoyment of playing diverse characters, citing her past experience as a journalist and host of live morning shows. Moreover, when approached for the role, the Money Back Guarantee actor found the prospect of working in Quetta, Balochistan, intriguing and intended to take on the unique experience.

Asked about taking the role of a journalist, she explained, ‘The convincing was great, and I realized the producer’s passion and pure intentions were strong, determined to bring something new. She added “I have a tendency to support those who are keen on exploring new horizons and experimenting. While some actors prefer working with big banners for professionalism and organization, I find joy in ventures that embrace experimentation and new ideas.”

Asked about her inspiration for the journalist role, Omar mentioned observing female journalists but not specifically imitating them. Optimistic about the film’s impact, she highlighted its powerful, honest story and expressed concern over negative portrayals of Pakistan in the media and foreign film industries, emphasizing the importance of presenting the truth.

Lastly, asked about Bulbulay, she noted the project’s unexpected longevity and suggested bringing back the kids to the record-breaking show.
