Babar Ali’s perspective on how Pakistan is portrayed in Indian cinema

The renowned Lollywood and TV actor Babar Ali, actively criticizes Bollywood’s ongoing practice of promoting propaganda by defaming Pakistan.
In a recent interview, he openly discussed the portrayal of Pakistan in Indian films, focusing on Sunny Deol’s latest movie, Gadar 2. Babar Ali praised Deol’s return to the big screen but also condemned his use of divisive themes to advance his career.
He said, “You can remake films, but if you disparage Pakistan, I won’t respect you.” Further, he highlighted, “I don’t want to stop you from making excellent contributions to your own country, but doing so shouldn’t be at the expense of Pakistan’s reputation.”
The Jeeva actor continued, “Pakistan has created several films, and we have never made fun of any nation we always show respect to artists, and we cordially greeted you when you visited Pakistan.”
In a sequel to his 2001 film “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma return to their roles. The 2023 release breaks box office records but also faces criticism for its negative portrayal of Pakistan and Muslims. The actor from “Border” brushed off these allegations, emphasizing that films should be primarily seen as a source of entertainment rather than subject to in-depth analysis.
