Sarah Khan Expresses Admiration for Deepika Padukone in Bollywood

In an interview with PTI, Sarah Khan, who recently expressed her desire to explore opportunities in Bollywood and has a unique dream co-star in mind, praised Hindi cinema and mentioned a few favourites along the way.
The actor emphasized the significant fan following that Bollywood has, expressing her eagerness to work in the industry.
Sarah Khan’s Admirations for Bollywood and Deepika
Sarah shared, “For any actor, working in another space is a big deal, so it will be great if I get to work in Bollywood. I would love to. I feel half of my audience is in India, and the other half is in Pakistan. Who is not a fan of Bollywood?” She admired Deepika Padukone and her initial career aspiration to work with Salman Khan.
Sarah Khan’s Suggestions for Her Audience
Talking about her show, in which she co-stars alongside Bilal Abbas Khan, Sarah stated, “I wanted my audience to see Abdullapur Ka Devdas and my portrayal of Gul Bano. It’s an old-school love story set in modern times. It’s about two people who fall in love through letters.” She added, “Audiences in both India and Pakistan love beautiful love stories. We both love ‘shayari’ and a story of love rooted culturally,”
Shedding light on the reasons behind the popularity of Pakistani shows in India, Sarah offered, “These are stories that more or less are happening in our homes and in our neighbourhoods. So people from both countries can relate to it. Our actors are known for their natural acting. Hence the audience feels connected to them.”
She also highlighted the evolving landscape of Pakistani serials, noting a departure from traditional “hero-heroine centric plots.” She highlighted the industry’s shift towards narratives beyond love stories featuring attractive protagonists. According to her, contemporary Pakistani serials explore more diverse and nuanced storytelling, moving away from conventional tropes.
During her school days, Sarah had aspirations of becoming a singer. However, her entry into acting happened by chance. While interacting with individuals from a local television network while recording one of her songs, she unexpectedly received an offer for her debut drama, Badi Appa. Initially taking the opportunity during school holidays, Sarah soon realized the significant responsibilities of acting.
