Asif Raza Mir on Working with Sajal Aly Post Sajal and Ahad Split

Veteran actor Asif Raza Mir recently opened up about working with Sajal Aly in the drama serial Main Manto Nahin Hoon after her much-publicized divorce from his son, Ahad Raza Mir. Speaking on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show Gloss Etc, Asif shared candid reflections on the dynamic, both personal and professional, that came into play during this unique collaboration. The Sajal and Ahad separation drew  attention from fans, and her reunion with father-in-law on the same project — albeit in different capacities — piqued even more interest.

Asif Raza Mir, who plays Sajal Aly’s father in the drama, acknowledged that people had questions when the casting was first announced. However, he emphasized that both he and Sajal approached the work with maturity and mutual respect. He noted that the experience became a growth opportunity for them both, and their professionalism ensured a smooth working relationship despite personal history.

Reflecting on the public’s reaction to Sajal and Ahad’s divorce, Asif said it’s natural for fans to feel disappointed when relationships end, especially when they’re so emotionally invested. Yet, he stressed that such events are part of life and can occur for countless reasons. According to him, what matters most is how individuals handle those moments and move forward. He commended Sajal for her courage and grace throughout the process.

Addressing viral footage from a recent Hum TV event where Sajal and him were seen in the same frame, Asif stated that his family doesn’t indulge in or react to such social media moments. He added that having spent decades in the entertainment industry, he understands how public narratives can be shaped. Ultimately, he believes that everyone involved has moved on and is focused on personal and professional growth.
