Abida Parveen actively works as a Pakistani singer, composer, and musician specializing in Sufi music. She also pursues painting and entrepreneurship. As one of Pakistan’s highest-paid singers, Parveen has earned widespread acclaim for her singing and music, which have earned her the title “Queen of Sufi Music.”
Born and raised in Larkana in a Sindhi Sufi family, Parveen received her musical training from her father, Ustad Ghulam Haider, a renowned singer and music teacher. She plays the pump organ, keyboard, and sitar. Parveen began performing in the early 1970s and gained international prominence in the 1990s. She started touring globally in 1993, with her first international concert held in Buena Park, California. Parveen has also performed in churches multiple times.
She regularly participates in Pakistan’s popular music show Coke Studio and served as a judge on the pan-South Asia contest show Sur Kshetra alongside Runa Laila and Asha Bhosle, hosted by Ayesha Takia. Parveen has appeared in various Indian and Pakistani music reality shows, including Pakistan Idol, Chhote Ustaad, and STAR Voice of India. In recent years, she collaborated with Atif Aslam in a Pepsi commercial, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
