Faisal Kapadia, one half of the legendary band Strings, is a highly respected musician. Now embarking on a new journey with his debut solo album, he recently appeared on ‘After Hours with Ushna Shah.’ When asked about his first live performance, Faisal recalled the nerves he felt during Strings’ debut concert in Islamabad in July 1990.

His voice gave out during sound check, but to his surprise, Junaid Jamshed showed up and offered words of encouragement, telling them, “You guys are great.”

Kapadia shared fond memories of his bond with Junaid, noting that they both learned from the same teacher, Ustaad Chahat Hussain Khan Sahib. He described Junaid as his classical music partner, with whom he would often listen to long pieces like Raga Darbari. Their shared passion for music created a strong connection between them.

Strings, initially formed in Karachi in 1988 by Bilal Maqsood, Faisal Kapadia, Rafiq Wazir Ali, and Kareem Bashir Bhoy, went on to achieve legendary status in Pakistan's music industry.

Who is Faisal Kapadia?

Faisal Kapadia  is a Pakistani musician, composer, singer-songwriter, and guitarist, widely recognized as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band Strings. Following the band's dissolution, he embarked on a solo music career. Kapadia has also directed several music videos for Strings, which made its Bollywood debut in 2006.

Since September 2005, Kapadia and his fellow Strings member Bilal Maqsood have served as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors for Pakistan.
