Muhammad Ahmed and Shamim Hilaly Discuss Why Marriages Struggle Today

In a recent interview with Fuchsia, industry veterans Mohammad Ahmed and Shamim Hilaly discussed the reasons behind the high divorce rates in modern marriages compared to those in the past. According to Mohammad Ahmed, one of the main issues is the lack of willingness among couples to compromise.
He noted that nowadays, couples are less inclined to give each other the time needed to understand and adjust to each other’s differences. Additionally, he blamed television for portraying divorce as a quick and easy solution, which isn’t reflective of reality. The increasing number of divorces among celebrity couples has further contributed to this trend.

On a positive note, Mohammad Ahmed highlighted a positive change in modern relationships: engaged couples now have the opportunity to spend time together and build a friendship before getting married. This, he believes, enhances understanding and compatibility between partners.

Regarding the importance of marriage, both Mohammad Ahmed and Shamim Hilaly emphasized that many people underestimate the value of having a life partner until later in life, typically around the age of 45. They cautioned against the misconception that one can navigate life independently without the need for companionship. Instead, they advised individuals to consider the benefits of having a supportive partner as they age.
