Fawad Khan Returns in Dubai After India Blocks Film

Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan returns to Bollywood after a nine-year break with the romantic comedy Abir Gulaal. While controversy brews in India, the film’s international promotions kicked off with a music launch in Dubai.

Photos and videos from the event at Dubai’s Global Village flooded social media, as Fawad, co-star Vaani Kapoor, and the rest of the cast captivated fans. Viewers are already buzzing about the duo’s on-screen chemistry.

Reports confirm that the film’s music album went live online just before the Dubai launch. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and shot in scenic London, the film casts Fawad as Abir Singh, a charming and witty lead, opposite Vaani as Gulaal Bajaj.

At the event, Fawad Khan praised Vaani Kapoor, calling her a “talented and engaging co-star,” and highlighted the importance of simplicity in storytelling.

However, Fawad’s comeback faces resistance in India. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) reportedly objected to the film’s release, pushing the team to move the first promo event to Dubai.

Fawad last appeared in Bollywood in 2016’s Kapoor & Sons. Now, nearly a decade later, his comeback sparks cross-border cinematic buzz.

Abir Gulaal hits cinemas worldwide on 9 May 2025.
