Mawra Hocane Returns to Bollywood
Mawra Hocane starred in Indian singer Akhil Sachdeva’s music video Tu Chaand Hai, which dropped on Friday. Set in sunlit scenic locations, the video features Mawra twirling gracefully between shots, adding charm to the romantic track.
She announced the cross-border collaboration on Instagram, writing, “Tu Chaand Hai – a special one from us to you. So excited to share this beautiful melody, sung by the incredibly talented Akhil Sachdeva. Releasing April 4, exclusively on Novice Records.”
Akhil echoed her excitement in the comments, saying, “Gave every inch of my soul while singing this beautiful melody. Can’t wait for the world to feel it.”
Both artists spoke about the project to Times of India. Mawra said, “Music videos have always fascinated me, and Tu Chaand Hai is pure magic. Working with this team has been an incredible experience.”
Akhil praised Mawra’s performance, noting, “This song is one of my most special, and Mawra brought it to life with her emotional presence on screen.”
Recently, Mawra has been riding a wave of success after her Bollywood debut Sanam Teri Kasam saw a surprise box office hit with its re-release—almost a decade after its initial run. Stars like Vidya Balan and Anil Kapoor lauded the film.
In a March Instagram post, Mawra reflected on the film’s newfound success. Sharing clips from the movie, she wrote, “Not me fainting at the numbers that Sanam Teri Kasam re-release is doing. Absolutely magical!” She added, “This re-release proves that timing and fate shape everything. I’m beyond grateful. They’re saying we’ve made history.”
