Pakistani Singer Grabs Javed Akhtar’s Attention

After discovering Moazzam Ali Khan’s rendition of Yeh Nain Deray Deray on YouTube, Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar expressed a strong interest in working with the Pakistani singer-actor.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Akhtar praised Khan’s performance and publicly invited him to collaborate. “Just now I watched a gentleman, Moazzam saheb, on YouTube singing Yeh Nain Deray Deray. Could he please contact me? I will be thankful if he sings a few songs for us,” he wrote.

The recognition from one of Bollywood’s most revered lyricists thrilled fans from both India and Pakistan. Overwhelmed by the appreciation, Khan responded with a heartfelt message on his social media, calling the moment a great personal and artistic milestone.

“Truly grateful to be appreciated by the legendary Javed Akhtar Sahab. His words have inspired generations, and to have him acknowledge my voice and song is an honour beyond words,” Khan expressed. He also extended his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support.

Supporters flooded Khan’s Instagram comments with praise, celebrating the recognition. Many urged him to accept Akhtar’s offer, emphasizing the power of music to bridge divides. One fan wrote, “Please do contact him and sing more songs, for us, for everyone. In the time of hate, let’s do more art and love.” Another commented, “India is waiting for you. Keep shining!”

Javed Akhtar, known for his profound lyrics and contributions to Indian cinema, has received multiple National Film Awards and the prestigious Padma Bhushan. Apart from being a celebrated lyricist, he is also a renowned Urdu poet and screenwriter.

Meanwhile, Moazzam Ali Khan, widely recognized for his acting roles in Meri Shehzadi and Ishq e Laa, is also a singer and voiceover artist. Notably, he is the great-grandson of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan.
