Karachi witnessed a night of music, emotion, and resilience as Atif Aslam took the stage at the Sindh Governor House for a special Independence Day concert, just one day after the passing of his father.
Invited by Governor Kamran Tessori as part of the Maarka-i-Haq Independence Day celebrations, the lawns of the historic venue began filling up well before sunset. By 7 p.m., enthusiastic fans mostly young boys and girls were streaming in, their anticipation building over the next three hours. Even a lengthy wait and prolonged speeches couldn’t dampen the excitement. Host Faizan Haq kept spirits alive, engaging the crowd until the moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived.
As the opening chords of “Woh Lamhey” rang out, Atif walked on stage to a roar of cheers. The atmosphere turned electric—phones were raised high, and voices joined his in unison. From there, he moved through a rapid-fire setlist, performing favourites like “Tu Chahiyey”, “Tera Hone Laga Hoon”, and the soul-stirring “Dil Diyan Gallan”, often letting the crowd take over the mic in a moving display of connection.
