Former One Direction members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are set to give fans a long-awaited reunion, not through music, but on screen. Netflix has greenlit a three-part documentary series that will follow the two singers on an intimate road trip across the United States.
The project, directed by Nicola Marsh — best known for documentaries like Child Star and Song Exploder promises to peel back layers of the stars’ private lives. Cameras will capture Zayn and Louis as they reconnect, travel across America, and reflect on their journey's highs and heartbreaks since the One Direction days.
One of the most emotional elements of the series will be their candid conversations surrounding the tragic passing of Liam Payne, who died in Buenos Aires last year at the age of 31. For fans, this promises to be an unfiltered look at grief, resilience, and brotherhood.
A joint statement from their representatives describes the project as “a rare chance to see two of the most famous, yet most guarded, men in the world open up about life, loss, and fatherhood.”
The docuseries, produced by Campfire Studios, is scheduled for release in September next year. The studio has previously worked on notable projects including Unknown Number: The High School Catfish and America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
