Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram may soon be making an unexpected move from the cricket field to television. According to reports, the legendary fast bowler is set to make his television debut in an upcoming drama serial featuring actress Mahnoor Baloch, with Fahim Burney attached as the director.

The project is currently in the pre-production stage, and the makers are reportedly in discussions with potential cast members as they work towards finalising the lineup. Burney has also shared the news on his official Instagram account, adding to the growing interest surrounding the project.

However, Akram has yet to confirm his involvement or reveal what kind of character he might play. Until an official announcement comes from the cricketer or the production team, details about his role remain under wraps.

If confirmed, the drama would mark another interesting chapter in Akram’s growing association with the entertainment industry. Although he is best known for his extraordinary achievements in international cricket, he has already made an appearance on the big screen.

Akram featured in Faisal Qureshi’s film Money Back Guarantee, which arrived in cinemas on April 21, 2023. The film also starred Fawad Khan, and Akram reportedly played a small but significant role as a rival to Khan’s character.

Beyond entertainment, Akram’s legacy in cricket remains difficult to match. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of the game, he enjoyed an international career spanning nearly two decades, from 1984 to 2003.

During that period, he represented Pakistan in 104 Test matches and 356 One Day Internationals. He claimed 414 wickets in Tests and 502 in ODIs, taking his international wicket tally to 916. He also scored 6,615 runs across international cricket, demonstrating his abilities as a useful lower-order batter.
