The former television host broke down while recalling her husband’s final hours and the heartbreaking questions her young daughters asked after his death.
Pakistani television host Abeel Jawed has left viewers emotional after opening up about the sudden death of her husband, Shehzad, and the traumatic circumstances surrounding his final hours. Appearing on Good Morning Pakistan, hosted by Nida Yasir, Abeel shared a deeply personal account of losing her husband, revealing how a medical emergency turned into a tragedy that she is still struggling to process.
Abeel is best known for co-hosting Masala TV’s popular cooking show Handi alongside the late culinary icon Zubaida Tariq. The programme became one of the longest-running cooking shows on Pakistani television. Following her reported marriage in March 2014, Abeel stepped away from hosting and focused on her family. She is the mother of two daughters. Her husband passed away in May 2026 after suffering heart failure.
During her appearance on the morning show, Abeel revisited the events that led to his death, describing a devastating experience that unfolded within hours. According to her, Shehzad had not appeared seriously ill, and she initially suspected that his oxygen levels might be low. However, the situation took a frightening turn when they reached the hospital.
Abeel recalled that the doctors discussed several serious interventions, including dialysis and putting him on a ventilator. The news left Shehzad distressed, as he reportedly expressed his reluctance to undergo such procedures. What followed was a medical crisis that Abeel said she could never have anticipated.
“Shehzad wasn't sick,” she said while recalling the incident. She explained that his heart failed within four hours of hearing the doctors' assessment, leaving her shocked by how quickly everything had changed.
One of the most painful aspects of her account was the guilt she described carrying after taking her husband to the hospital. Abeel said she had brought him there believing he needed medical attention, only to watch his condition deteriorate before her eyes. The fact that her children associated the hospital visit with their father's death made the experience even more difficult for her to bear.
