Did ‘Love Guru’ Make a Huge Amount of Money?

Love Guru

The romantic comedy film Love Guru, which hit cinemas on Eid-ul-Azha, has scored a major box office win, earning an impressive Rs 55 crore worldwide.

Audiences in Pakistan and abroad are celebrating the film, making it one of the top-grossing Pakistani films of the year. Over 60 cinemas across the country continue to screen Love Guru, with packed houses and glowing reviews pouring in.

Filmmaker Nadeem Baig directed the movie, while Wasay Chaudhry—known for Jawani Phir Nahi Ani—wrote the script. Set in London, the story follows Mahira Khan’s character Sofia Khan, a bold Pashtun architect living in the U.S., and Humayun Saeed, who plays the charming flirt dubbed “Love Guru.” His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Sofia.

Alongside its leads, the film features performances by Momina Iqbal, Mira Sethi, Sohai Ali Abro, Amara Malik, Adnan Shah Tipu, Marina Khan, Usman Peerzada, and Javed Sheikh. A surprise cameo by another major Pakistani actor has also thrilled fans.

Producers Humayun Saeed, Shehzad Nasib, and Jerjees Seja—backed by Salman Iqbal as executive producer—brought the film to life under the ARY Films banner. They combined Punjabi and Pashto humor to appeal to a broad audience base.

According to the producers, Love Guru made Rs 29 crore at the Pakistani box office and another Rs 26 crore overseas, totaling Rs 55 crore. Many see this success as a hopeful sign for the revival of Lollywood, which has faced tough times in recent years.

Although the film still falls short of The Legend of Maula Jatt, which grossed over Rs 4 billion globally, Love Guru proves that star power, compelling storytelling, and strong production values can still draw crowds to cinemas.
