Actor and singer Samar Jafri called off his eagerly awaited Hyderabad performance after crowd misconduct and rising safety worries compelled him to take what he termed a tough call.
In a formal statement, Jafri’s team said the artist had been eager to meet his supporters and provide an unforgettable evening. Yet worries regarding the crowd’s conduct and very possible dangers to those present ultimately resulted in the cancellation.
As per the statement, the situation sparked fears about possible harassment, especially of women, along with the serious danger of overcrowding or a stampede.
“Samar was truly thrilled to perform for his fans in Hyderabad. However, because of crowd misconduct and escalating safety worries at the venue, Samar took the tough decision to cancel the show to prevent very possible harassment, especially towards women, and to avoid the danger of overcrowding or a stampede,” the management said.
Stressing the need to prioritise public safety at live events, the team added, “The safety and well-being of everyone present must always come first.”
The statement further emphasised that event organisers were accountable for ensuring venues and arrangements met all required safety standards. “Organisers must make this their very top priority and ensure that every arrangement at the venue is up to that standard,” the team said.
The management apologised to disappointed fans, saying, “We sincerely apologise to everyone who was looking forward to the performance and thank you for your understanding.”
The statement was signed by Team Samar Jafri.
After the announcement, Jafri posted a video from the event, along with a personal message to his Hyderabad fans. Voicing disappointment over how the evening had turned out, he said he had come with excitement and hoped to share a special experience with his audience.
“Hyderabad, I was truly excited to perform for you. I came here looking forward to sharing a special evening with you all, and it hurts that things turned out the way they did,” he said.
Clarifying his decision, Jafri repeated that the crowd’s conduct and the ensuing safety worries had left him with no real option but to cancel the show.
