Television and film actor Rana Aftab, 63, was shot and killed outside his home in Lahore on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 8:40 am as Aftab was leaving his residence in a private housing society. According to his wife Huma, who filed the police report, three to four unidentified men in a golden Toyota Corolla blocked his vehicle at the gate. One of the assailants stepped out and fired multiple rounds from an automatic rifle into Aftab's car.

Huma’s brothers, who were nearby, witnessed the attack. The gunmen fled immediately afterward. Police described the shooter as a man of medium height and build, wearing shalwar kameez. A murder case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive. No arrests have yet been made.
Aftab had retired from his position as deputy director at the Excise Department and was recently employed at a textile company. On screen, he was known for playing authoritative roles such as judges and lawyers across a range of TV dramas, including Lal Andhiand Ek Mohabbat Azmaish, as well as in several Punjabi films.
