Amir Khan Faces High Court Battle After Denying Harassment Claims as Wife Faryal Makhdoom Rejects ‘Blackmail’ Allegations
Former boxing champion Amir Khan and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, have appeared before the High Court in London as a high-profile defamation case linked to harassment allegations continues to unfold.
The legal dispute stems from claims publicized by women’s rights activist Faryal Hussain, who raised concerns about Khan’s alleged conduct through social media posts, podcast appearances, and an online petition campaign. Khan and Makhdoom strongly deny all allegations and have taken legal action against Hussain, arguing that the accusations are false and damaging to their reputations.
The controversy first gained traction after Hussain said she had been approached by several women who claimed to have had troubling experiences involving the former world boxing champion. According to court filings discussed during the proceedings, multiple women have made allegations relating to interactions with Khan over a number of years.
The documents reportedly include claims involving explicit messages, alleged inappropriate relationships, and, in some accounts, accusations of coercive behavior and threats. Additional filings are said to reference allegations dating from 2016 to 2023, with some women claiming they were offered money in exchange for explicit photographs and conversations.
The case has also drawn attention to allegations involving Makhdoom. Court documents reportedly suggest she was aware of some of the accusations and allegedly threatened certain individuals. An audio recording has been cited in support of those claims. Makhdoom has categorically denied the allegations and rejects any wrongdoing.
Several women referenced in the legal filings have reportedly described suffering emotional distress following their alleged interactions with Khan. However, it is important to note that none of these allegations have been proven in court.
Hussain has maintained that her involvement began after hearing accounts from women who sought support. She later launched an online petition calling for greater awareness of the issue, a campaign that reportedly attracted more than 1,600 signatures.
As public debate surrounding the case intensified, Hussain recently addressed criticism directed at both herself and some of the women connected to the allegations. In a statement shared via Instagram Stories, she pushed back against those questioning her motives and the conduct of the women involved.
Hussain argued that the discussion should focus on the allegations themselves rather than personal attacks, emphasizing that many of the women were single and that the claims include accusations of blackmail, threats, and serious misconduct. She stated that she felt compelled to speak out if doing so could help protect other women from similar experiences.
Meanwhile, Khan and Makhdoom continue to reject every allegation made against them. Through the ongoing legal proceedings, the couple is seeking to prevent Hussain from repeating what they describe as defamatory and malicious claims.
The case remains before the High Court, and no judicial findings have been made regarding the allegations. Until the court reaches a conclusion, the claims remain disputed, with both sides firmly standing by their respective positions in what has become one of the most closely watched legal battles involving a British-Pakistani celebrity couple.

Stories must reflect realities, local culture: Shaan Shahid
Shaan Shahid has urged the Pakistani film industry to move away from repetitive formulas and focus on creating original stories that reflect local culture and realities.
Appearing on Dunya TV programme ‘Mazaq Raat’ along with Meera, Shaan Shahid said the film industry should stop copying foreign trends.
“Invest in talent instead of property or safer businesses,” he said, adding that filmmakers need to take creative risks for the industry to grow.
He added that Pakistani cinema needs to develop its own cultural voice.
The industry needs its own content, its own identity, told in the context of modern Pakistan,” he noted.
Meera echoed the sentiment, pointing to her upcoming work as an example of experimentation within local cinema.
“People ask why we do not make films on topics like Hollywood, why we are not exploring different ideas. To them, the answer is my film Psycho, where Shaan has addressed a subject closer to Hollywood and a genre different from the usual,” she said.
She added that such projects represent an effort to broaden the scope of storytelling in Pakistan and push audiences towards new genres.
Building on this creative direction, Shaan revealed that a new film is currently in development titled English Minglish, with Meera in the lead role. He has written the script, screenplay, and is directing the project himself.
“The pipeline ahead features a comedy film, and its name is English Minglish,” he said. “It stars Meera, and her character’s task in the movie is that she has to learn English in three months.”
Meera said she is excited about collaborating again with Shaan on the project and is also working on Psycho 2.
Reflecting on Meera’s journey, he said her return to films came at a difficult time.
“When Meera decided she wanted to do a film again, I felt here is an actress, a woman, struggling to define herself and find her domain. My effort is to develop an ecosystem of scripts around her,”

“What if, for just one day, men walked through a world designed by our fears instead of theirs? What if they heard the warnings we inherit before we learn independence? The calculations we make before a walk home. The caution stitched into our freedom,” she noted.
The actress clarified that her message was not rooted in resentment toward men but rather in a desire for self-reflection and accountability.
“I don’t hate men. I never have. But I have learned to be careful with the space I give them in my life,” she wrote, adding that harmful attitudes often begin in seemingly insignificant moments that society chooses to overlook.
Durefishan further emphasized that change begins by challenging the excuses and behaviors that are normalized from childhood.
“The problem isn’t only in the monsters we condemn. It is in the habits we excuse, the lessons we don’t teach, and the standards we quietly lower,” she stated.
Her thoughtful remarks struck a chord with social media users, many of whom praised her for addressing a sensitive issue with honesty and nuance.
