Ahsan Khan’s role as Sherdil in Zanjeerein is earning rave reviews, with viewers calling his screen presence magnetic and his acting top-tier. In the latest episode, Sherdil stands at the heart of a tense feud fueled by family conflict, property battles, and revenge.
Sherdil is portrayed as a man of principle, a devoted husband, caring son, and protective brother, who refuses to back down in the face of Torsam’s growing hostility and threats.
Fans have been vocal about their admiration. “His acting skills are on another level, always delivering perfection,” one viewer wrote.
Another described him as “a complete package of performance and aura,” while a third commented, “Ahsan Khan ka waqai aura hai, outstanding performance.”
Several viewers compared him to veteran actor Feisal Qureshi, with one writing, “Ahsan Khan, Feisal Qureshi ye wo actors hain jinki acting kamal, har character lajawab karte hain.”
Ahead of the drama’s run, Ahsan Khan spoke about Sherdil and made clear that the role carries real weight in the story.
“I am doing a special appearance in the show, and I want to make it clear that when I say ‘special appearance,’ it means a cameo, a central character who will be there for a short period of time but will leave a mark,” he said.
“Sherdil is obedient and good to his family; he is the best husband, son, and brother. However, he takes a stand for respect and dignity and does not believe in people involved in fraudulent activities. Such good people are either killed or sidelined,” Ahsan added.
The enthusiasm around his performance is not surprising to anyone who has followed his career.
Ahsan Khan has been a fixture in Pakistani television and film since 1998, and his body of work is filled with roles that stayed with audiences long after they aired. His performance in Udaari, the 2016 HUM TV drama that tackled the subject of child abuse, is widely regarded as one of the finest of his career and earned him multiple awards, including the HUM Award for Best Actor and Best Actor in a Negative Role.
His role in Mausam in 2014 alongside Hareem Farooq also won him the HUM Award for Best Actor. In Alif, which aired in 2019 alongside Sajal Ali, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Kubra Khan, he delivered another layered performance that drew strong praise. On the big screen, his 2017 comedy film Chupan Chupai opposite Neelam Muneer was a commercial success and earned him a Lux Style Award nomination for Best Film Actor.
In Zanjeerein, the stakes around Sherdil continue to rise sharply. Torsam was revealed as the man behind an attack on him, and after Sherdil publicly slapped Torsam at a family panchayat, the latter swore on his late mother to kill him. By the end of episode six, Torsam had ordered his men to attack Sherdil before he could leave the area, closing the episode on a serious cliffhanger.
Zanjeerein airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 8 PM on HUM TV. The drama is written by Farhat Ishtiaq, directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, and produced by Momina Duraid Productions.
