Fazila Qazi Criticizes Presidential Awards, Calls Them Biased

Veteran Pakistani actress Fazila Qazi criticized the distribution of Presidential Awards, accusing the process of favoring personal connections over merit. She voiced these concerns during an appearance on Tabish Hashmi’s show Hansna Mana Hai with her husband, actor Qaiser Nizamani.

In the interview, Qazi revealed that many deserving artists are often overlooked for national recognition, according to Express News. She sarcastically remarked that she was thankful her husband received the Presidential Award during a time when awards were granted based solely on an artist’s work, not on recommendations.

Qazi also shared that files are compiled for artists being considered for the award, but hers has been sitting idle for five years. She expressed her frustration with the authorities, accusing them of neglecting hardworking artists.

Fazila Qazi is a prominent Pakistani television actress, producer, writer, and chef. With a career spanning over four decades, she has been a key figure in the industry. Once regarded as the embodiment of Pakistan’s traditional “girl next door,” Qazi gained recognition as a fashion model in 1988 before transitioning into the drama industry in 1991. She is the daughter of Qazi Nazeer Akbar Abassi. Kaiser received her early education at a government school, later attending Urdu Science College, and went on to earn a BA degree from Karachi University.
