In her farewell message, Fatima expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty and her parents, calling the decision to step away deeply emotional and personal. While she acknowledged how difficult the choice was, she chose not to disclose the reasons behind it. Notably, Radio Pakistan has yet to issue an official statement, adding an air of intrigue to her departure.
A Voice That Became a Standard
Within journalistic and broadcasting circles, Ishrat Fatima’s name is synonymous with flawless Urdu diction, grace, and professionalism. Tributes poured in soon after the news broke, with senior journalist Fauzia Kalsoom Rana highlighting that Fatima’s career was not merely about longevity, but about moments that shaped history and storytelling that resonated far beyond borders.
Rana emphasised that Fatima’s respect was earned through pure merit, discipline, and ethical journalism, not influence or shortcuts. Working alongside her, she noted, was like attending a masterclass in linguistic precision and newsroom integrity.
A recipient of the Pride of Performance, Fatima has long been regarded as a benchmark for broadcast excellence, a voice that aspiring anchors measured themselves against.
