Khalilur Rehman Qamar’s daughter defends him

Hijab Khalil, the daughter of acclaimed screenwriter and director Khalilur Rehman Qamar, recently participated in an interview where she discussed her bond with her father and clarified the events related to his alleged involvement in a “honey trap” scandal.

She mentioned that by the time the matter gained significant attention on social media, most of the issues had already been addressed. She conveyed her distress regarding what she characterized as callous online commentary and harassment aimed at her family during that time. “I remember there was this one girl being super insensitive about the situation on your podcast,” Khalil told the host, who inferred that she was alluding to Ghazal Shapatar.

“Yes, her views and points, we can disagree with. But how can someone hate someone that much?” she said, adding, “People were praying my father dies and asking why he survived.”

Hijab also claimed that the kidnapping incident became another reason for online harassment directed at her. “‘Her dad got kidnapped and she is posting TikToks,’” she recalled, describing the type of comments she received while noting that social media is part of her work.

“People just want to say something, but don’t come after my family. If you disagree with my father, you should have the guts to say something to him. But people do not because they are afraid that he will talk back,” she added.

Hijab said the experience had a lasting emotional impact on her father and that she noticed changes in his behaviour after the incident. Despite his public reputation for controversy, she described him at home as humorous, approachable and more like a companion than a strict parent. “My dad is more like a friend than my father,” she said.

One of the most controversial segments of the interview centred on her views regarding the Aurat March and gender transition. Khalil said she supports her father’s stance on the Aurat March and does not identify as a liberal.

“I support the Aurat March statements my father has given. I’m not liberal. There are remote areas where women don’t have education and do not even know what feminism or Aurat March is. The people who already have everything, why are they doing this? I don’t support it. I’m not a big fan,” she said, adding, “It’s propaganda.”

Addressing criticism she receives over her clothing choices, Hijab said the scrutiny is often linked to her father’s controversial public image. “I think it’s because I am the only girl in the family on social media,” she said. She added, “I do dress like Gen Z, but I do not dress vulgar,” while questioning why people feel compelled to compare her appearance with her father’s public views.

Speaking about her father’s legacy, she acknowledged that his outspoken opinions often generate strong reactions, particularly among younger audiences, but maintained that she does not consider him extreme. “Some Gen Z hate my dad, but he is not that bad. If he was that misogynistic or against women, I would not be here,” she said.

Hijab, who recently completed her bachelor’s degree in film and directing, also discussed the pressure of being the daughter of a successful filmmaker.

“Because my dad is successful, I’d say there is more pressure to be. I haven’t gotten any opportunities through my dad. I actually didn’t want to work with my father from the start,” she said. “I think if you want to move ahead in your field, use your own talent and not someone else’s success.”

She concluded by arguing that public perceptions of her father are largely shaped by his controversial public statements, while many of his critics avoid confronting him directly because they fear his response.

Imran Ashraf has had to do something no celebrity should ever have to do and that is to assure the world that he is still alive.

The actor recently found himself at the centre of a bizarre social media hoax after AI-generated videos falsely claimed that he had passed away. The fabricated clips spread across social media, leaving some fans genuinely confused about what had happened.

The videos were particularly convincing because they featured digitally created versions of familiar Pakistani personalities, including journalists and celebrities. As the content circulated, the false reports began taking on a life of their own.

Imran eventually stepped in to put the rumours to rest himself.

Taking to his Instagram story, the actor shared a direct message for his followers, writing, “ALHAMDULILLAH I AM ABSOLOUTLY FINE ITS A FAKE NEWS NEED YOUR PRAYERS.”

His message made it clear that there was no truth behind the death reports and that he was perfectly fine.

Among the fabricated content circulating online were videos featuring AI-generated versions of actor Bilal Abbas, former cricketer Shahid Afridi and journalist Mansoor Ali Khan. The use of familiar faces appeared to give the fake reports an added sense of credibility, making the hoax even more disturbing.

One video took the deception a step further by showing what appeared to be Imran Ashraf’s funeral. Such content can easily mislead viewers who encounter it without knowing that the footage has been digitally manipulated.

Unfortunately, Imran is not the first Pakistani celebrity to become the target of an AI-powered death hoax.

Earlier this year, veteran singer Tahira Syed was also forced to respond after false reports about her death began circulating online. She later appeared in a video to confirm that she was alive and healthy, while reminding people to check the authenticity of information before believing or sharing it.

Zain Hamid confirms separation from Nimra Khan

UK-based pilot Zain Hamid has confirmed his divorce from Pakistani actor Nimra Khan, months after their marriage and amid separation rumours on social media.

Nimra Khan married Zain Hamid in May 2026. However, reports of differences between the couple and speculation about their separation had been circulating on social media for some time.

At the time, Nimra had denied the reports, saying that her married life was going well. She had also removed her wedding pictures from social media, citing concerns about the evil eye.

Zain Hamid has now confirmed the divorce in a statement posted on Instagram. He said he divorced Nimra Khan on July 17, attributing the decision to irreconcilable personal differences and differences in priorities.

He said he did not want to blame anyone for the separation, adding that legal proceedings had also been initiated and the matter had been handed over to lawyers.

Zain further said the separation was mutually agreed upon and that such circumstances were equally difficult for both men and women. He also expressed his best wishes for Nimra Khan.

Nimra Khan’s marriage to Zain Hamid was her second. She had previously married Raja Iftikhar in 2020, but the marriage ended a few months later.
