Singer Maha Ali Kazmi has ignited a social media storm by publicly condemning actor-turned-podcast host Ahmad Ali Butt. The altercation arose during Butt's podcast conversation with Ali Noor, where Kazmi had previously accused the Noori frontman of harassment and professional misconduct during a Coke Studio audition. Kazmi took to her Instagram Stories, unveiling explicit messages from 2013 in which Ahmad Ali Butt had messaged her inappropriately.
Maha Ali Kazmi Questions Ahmad Ali Butt's Podcast Role
In a scathing critique, Kazmi questioned Ahmad Ali Butt's role as an adjudicator in a matter currently sub-judice before the Ombudsman for Sindh for Protection against Harassment of Women. Sharing screenshots of a conversation between Butt and Noor, she challenged the legitimacy of Ali Noor clearing his name and queried Butt's authority to dispense character certificates. Kazmi's pointed questions addressed the perceived one-sidedness of pronouncing Noor "not guilty" and raised concerns about the fairness of such judgments.
Seeking a balanced narrative, a media outlet reached out to both Kazmi and Butt for official statements. Kazmi responded, outlining her detailed stance on the matter and clarifying her decision to reveal the explicit conversation. She emphasized that her primary objective was to defend her reputation and shed light on the unsettling experiences women face in the media industry, addressing the normalization of inappropriate messages.
