Mahira Khan Praises Imran Khan, Crowd Cheers

Mahira

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has consistently expressed admiration for Imran Khan’s leadership and has openly supported him on various platforms. Known for her poise and candor, Mahira reiterated her support during the Aalmi Urdu Conference 2024 in Karachi. She lauded Imran Khan, describing him as “very brave,” a remark that resonated strongly with the audience, drawing loud chants and applause.

The actress also showcased her charm and quick wit in a lively rapid-fire session hosted by Waseem Badami. When prompted with “Karachi,” Mahira affectionately responded with “home,” encapsulating her deep connection to the city. For “Lahore,” she referenced her blockbuster film by saying “Maula Jutt.” When asked to describe herself, Mahira hesitated briefly, prompting Badami to call her a “superstar.” Her response to “Imran Khan” was the simple yet powerful word, “brave,” further emphasizing her admiration for the former Prime Minister.

Mahira has actively participated in philanthropic events organized by the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, reinforcing her respect for Imran Khan’s humanitarian initiatives. In a nod to her appreciation for Pakistani talent, she paid tribute to designer Khadija Shah at her wedding function by wearing an elegant Elan sari. In an interview with Amna, Mahira praised Khadija’s work and resilience. Despite facing legal challenges, including jail time following the May 9 protests, Khadija Shah remains a prominent figure in the fashion industry and a staunch supporter of PTI.

Mahira Khan on Imran Khan

Mahira’s openness extends beyond her political views. Addressing recurring questions about Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan during the conference, she handled the topic with grace. Responding to Waseem Badami’s inquiry about whether she finds it tiring to be asked about the “King of Bollywood,” Mahira shared her sentiments candidly. “I will never have enough of him,” she said, adding that while she willingly answers questions about him, she feels the topic is sometimes over-discussed.

As the only Pakistani actress to have worked with Shah Rukh Khan in the film Raees, Mahira holds a unique place in the industry. Her collaboration with the Bollywood icon has made her a frequent subject of discussion, but she maintains a balanced perspective, focusing on her journey and achievements while gracefully addressing the lingering curiosity around her association with the superstar.

I visited courts for two years, yet I couldn’t recover my hard-earned money. You’re right—I could have gone to the media, but when a person goes through trauma, such things don’t come to mind. I was literally suffering during my court days because when famous people like us go to court while covering our faces and people still recognize us, it becomes a cultural shock to see ourselves in such a weak position.”

Namra Shahid On Muamma & Working With Saba Qamar

Namra Shahid is a main-stream Pakistani television and film actor who began her career in 2016. Her most popular television shows include hits like Shahrukh Ki Saaliyaan, Saheliyaan, Saya-e-Deewar Bhi Nahi, Shiddat, Bholi Bano, Darr Khuda Se, Romeo Weds Heer, and Aye Musht-e-Khaak. Recently, fans praised her acting in Mohra, and these days she is receiving widespread acclaim for her outstanding performance in Hum TV’s Muamma. Viewers are also praising her on-screen chemistry with Saba Qamar and the storyline between Jiji and Asiya.

Recently, Namra Shahid appeared on Fuchsia Magazine’s popular YouTube show, hosted by Rabia Mughni. During the show, she discussed how she landed the role in Muamma and shared her experience working alongside Saba Qamar.

Talking about the Muamma offer, Namra Shahid said, “I was called by Irum Bint-e-Shahid from HUM TV. She said, ‘We are doing a big project with a big cast and the character is very strong. It is the role of Jahanara’s attendant.’ I was shocked and said to her, ‘Is this why I gave ten years to the industry—to accept a maid’s role?’ She then explained that it is an important character because the whole story revolves around Jahanara and Asiya, and that it is not a typical saas-bahu drama. She also told me that Saba Qamar is playing Jahanara. When I heard Saba Qamar’s name, I said, ‘I’m sold.’ I didn’t even read the script at first. Later, I asked for the script, and after reading five episodes, I was blown away. It was amazing, and working with Saba Qamar itself was a great opportunity.”

Talking about her relationship with Jahanara, aka Jiji, she said, “Asiya is loyal and wants to stay with Jiji because the way the script is written, it feels like Asiya is Jiji’s right hand. I think people didn’t perceive it the way it was written, or maybe it couldn’t be portrayed that way. Now, after seeing this episode, Asiya knows what happened in Jiji’s life. Jiji is now left with only one relationship, and that is Asiya. I also don’t understand why people think Asiya and Ashiq are not husband and wife. How is that even possible? There is a mystery behind the two separate beds in the room.”
