Renowned actress and model Nadia Hussain told the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that she knew nothing about her husband Atif Khan’s alleged fraud, despite him currently being in FIA custody.
According to ARY News, Nadia recorded her statement during a two-hour session with FIA officials. She stated that her husband provided the funds to start and grow her salon and spa business, but she never questioned the source of the money.
“I was never part of any fraud,” Nadia asserted.
She clarified that her business is registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and that she listed the money from her husband as a loan in her tax returns.
FIA officials questioned her about money transfers between her husband’s accounts and her salon’s accounts. Investigators believe she received Rs26.4 million through 19 transactions since 2019 to run her two salons.
The FIA claims Atif Khan misappropriated Rs540 million from the company he worked for, leading to a total loss of Rs1.2 billion. He allegedly passed off the losses to the bank and used over Rs110 million for personal expenses.
Investigators added Nadia’s statement to the case file and named her a major beneficiary in the ongoing investigation.
