Actor Nameer Khan’s career shift from IT to acting came after he realized how much he could earn from a single day of shooting an advertisement.
During a recent appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Nameer shared lighthearted memories from his journey. He revealed that while working as a software engineer, he decided to try modeling and sent his portfolio to an agency. Before long, he landed a Coca-Cola commercial featuring Sajal Aly and Momina Mustehsan — an experience that completely changed his perspective.
The paycheck from that one ad, he said, was a wake-up call. Comparing it to his monthly IT salary, Nameer found the difference staggering. “It felt unfair to software engineers,” he joked. “We work so hard, but don’t make that kind of money. Plus, I actually enjoyed doing it.” That realization led him to pursue acting full-time.
Nameer also shared a humorous story from his time in Model Town, Lahore, recalling how he and his friends were once beaten up by robbers during a late-night cricket game. “That’s Lahore for you,” he quipped. “But in Karachi, thieves rob you with respect.”
