HUM TV’s new drama Hurmat has made its debut, bringing together Dananeer Mobeen and Shahveer Jafry in the lead roles. Written by Kashif Anwar, directed by Nadeem Siddiqui and produced by Momina Duraid Productions, the series revolves around a young college student whose life takes a difficult turn because of the harsh environment at home.
Dananeer plays the titular character Hurmat, an ambitious young woman trying to navigate her studies and personal life while dealing with her strict and aggressive father. The drama also features a strong supporting cast, including Javed Sheikh, Shahbaz Shigri, Uzma Hassan and Ali Tahir.
The first episode aired on Monday and quickly became a talking point among viewers, particularly because it introduced Shahveer Jafry to television acting. Known primarily for his work as a digital content creator, Shahveer has stepped into a completely different space with Hurmat, playing a wealthy young man whose introduction follows the familiar “rich boy” template often seen in Pakistani dramas.
While the storyline and characters received attention, Shahveer’s debut performance became one of the biggest discussion points online. A section of viewers found it difficult to separate the actor from the personality they have known through his social media content. His serious scenes, in particular, inspired plenty of humorous comments from fans.
