Noor Bukhari: Remarrying first husband was Allah’s plan

Noor Bukhari

In an interview, Noor discussed her personal life, marriage, faith and career. She also spoke about her relationships with fellow stars and how her faith led her to leave the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry in pursuit of a more peaceful relationship with God.

The former actor revealed that she had remarried her first husband in 2020 after the couple divorced in 2012. In between, Noor was married to Wali Hamid Ali Khan for two years. “I didn’t think it would ever happen, but it was by Allah’s will. When I left everything and turned to His path, I was rewarded,” she shared, adding, “Or maybe it was that our love never ended.”

Noor shared that the couple now had a beautiful relationship. “I think it was faith that we met again. I have four kids now, Thank God. He is a very good man. I always used to tell my father that I wanted to marry a man who treated me just like he did, and I found one. My husband treats me like I am a princess,” she said.

Detailing her decision to exit the entertainment industry, the former actor noted that she “just knew” it was time for her to leave “and focus on my soul.” She added, “I think we do not know when our lives will end, so I wanted to do something to make Allah happy, as I had already done what made me happy.”

Sharing that this wasn’t an easy decision for her, Noor stated, “When my father passed away, that was a huge transition for me, as he used to accompany me and be my shield in the entertainment world. After he passed, I told myself that this was enough.”

Noor also shared that she used to do Punjabi and Urdu films, along with commercials, saying she was also modelling. “I was doing everything,” she said, adding, “Now that I know I accomplished so much at a young age, I feel content having left.”

She further advised other actors to take the same step once they had fulfilled their journey. “I would also tell fellow actors that you should step down with respect one day so you can be missed,” the former actor said.

Discussing her time in the industry, Noor shared her views on fake people. She revealed that she had many arguments with fellow heroines, particularly Reema Khan. “I was at an age where I loved the idea of competition. There used to be so many fights between the heroines on set too. I saw a picture of me and Reema the other day. We all used to be enemies, and everyone used to realise that from the way we acted on set,” she recalled.

Moving beyond the drama, however, Noor shared that she had invited Reema as a guest on her first-ever morning show, which the latter accepted without hesitation. “I called her once to my show, even though we had a lot of history. I had also misbehaved with her, and she had with me too. I called her, and she came with grace. She opened my morning show by appearing on it,” Noor said.

She added that Reema “is a very good human being.”

Discussing another previous co-star, Noor spoke highly of Meera, describing her as one of the most genuine celebrities in the industry. “I have never had any problems with her,” she said. “Whenever she needs me, she calls. She is a very good human being compared to other actors,” the former actor noted.

She noted that when her father passed away, Meera was one of her most supportive friends. “When my father passed, so many people came when there were cameras around. Meera came alone, that too after a few days and not in front of any media. She sat down for three to four hours with me and came to discuss my life and console me,” Noor said.

Further, she argued that social media platforms like TikTok allowed young stars the privilege of not working as hard as her generation did to gain popularity. “Even TikTokers are stars now, and it isn’t difficult anymore. I would say that Reema, Meera, Resham, Sana, Saima Ji and I had to put in so much effort and achieve success after so long,” she said.

The former actor also touched on working with Shaan Shahid, with whom she starred in Mujhe Chaand Chahiye and the Punjabi film Zill-e-Shah. “I was lucky that I got to work with Shaan. Whenever someone asks me what to watch, I always give them those films,” she shared.

Noor left the entertainment industry in 2017 to lead a more religious and family-focused life.
