“Abuse is Not a Sign of Love,” Feroze Khan’s Second Wife
Feroze Khan’s second wife, Dr. Zainab, has spoken out against the harmful belief that abuse in a marriage is an expression of love. Her message, shared through Instagram, highlights the urgent need to dismantle dangerous narratives that normalize violence against women.
Dr. Zainab revealed that she was deeply disturbed after her sister-in-law forwarded her viral videos from social media. In these clips, a doctor could be seen suggesting that a husband hitting or insulting his wife reflects love and that women should sacrifice their self-respect to keep their marriage intact.
Strongly rejecting these claims, Dr. Zainab called them “harmful, completely wrong, and dangerous.” She emphasized that such views not only misrepresent the essence of love but also risk legitimizing abuse and fueling violence in society.
“Violence and abuse are never signs of love. Real love is shown through respect, care, and kindness, not through control, fear, or humiliation,” she wrote.
Dr. Zainab stressed that psychology never advocates for women to compromise their dignity in order to sustain a marriage. According to her, a healthy relationship thrives on trust, safety, and mutual respect, not on fear or submission.
She further warned that when professionals, such as doctors, publicly endorse such regressive beliefs, it contributes to normalizing violence, which could ultimately worsen the problem in society.
“Suggesting women should compromise their dignity only adds to the pain they already endure. Psychology is about helping people live stronger, safer lives—not justifying abuse,” she concluded.

Sharmila Faruqi Praises Saba Qamar’s Pamaal for Highlighting the Silent Abuse Women Endure in Marriages
Member of the National Assembly Sharmila Faruqi has lauded Saba Qamar’s latest drama, Pamaal, calling it a powerful portrayal of the “invisible wounds” women suffer within the confines of marriage. Faruqi praised the series for fearlessly addressing emotional and psychological abuse; a subject often brushed under the carpet in South Asian households.
According to her, while society condemns physical violence, it still struggles to recognize the devastating effects of “mental control” and “emotional manipulation” the kind of abuse that leaves no visible scars but deeply shatters a woman’s confidence and identity.
In Pamaal, Saba Qamar masterfully brings to life the character of Malika, a woman who chooses love over security, leaving her father’s home in pursuit of happiness. But her dream quickly turns into a nightmare when her husband, Raza (played by Usman Mukhtar), begins to confine her freedom under the guise of love and protection.
The story beautifully captures how affection can morph into control, how care can become coercion. Through its raw and honest depiction, Pamaal challenges societal norms that glorify sacrifice while silencing women’s suffering.
Speaking about the drama, Sharmila Faruqi emphasized that psychological abuse within marriages remains one of the most dangerously overlooked realities of domestic life.
“No woman should be expected to surrender her voice, identity, or dignity to satisfy a partner’s insecurity,” she stated.
