Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, known for his magnetic screen presence, has a lesser-known connection that stretches beyond the borders of India, all the way to Hafizabad, Pakistan. The intrinsic details came from his father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, who recently shared heartfelt details about the family’s origins during a candid conversation on The Lallantop Show.
During the interview, Pankaj Kapur reflected on his family’s deep-rooted history. He revealed that the Kapur family originally hailed from Hafizabad, where generations once lived together as a close-knit joint family before Partition. “Our grandfather’s job required frequent transfers,” Kapur said, “but we were told that Hafizabad was home to our ancestors - a place where the Kapoor family shared a single household and heritage.”
Adding another historical layer to this revelation, Kapur mentioned that his father was a writer, editor, and eloquent orator associated with Lahore’s prestigious Forman Christian College (now FC College University). The institution, once a shared Indo-Pak academic hub, was a center for intellectual exchange before 1947.
