In a fresh wave of cross-border fallout, the images of Pakistani actresses Mawra Hocane and Mahira Khan have been removed from the album covers of their Bollywood films Sanam Teri Kasam and Raees, respectively. The move follows the recent social media bans on Pakistani celebrities in India and reflects growing industry-wide restrictions. On platforms like Spotify and YouTube Music, Sanam Teri Kasam album covers now only show Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane, with Mawra Hocane entirely removed. Similarly, Mahira Khan’s image alongside Shah Rukh Khan has been edited out from the Raees music album art.
Harshvardhan Rane Exits Sanam Teri Kasam Sequel
This development comes just as actor Harshvardhan Rane announced his decision to withdraw from Sanam Teri Kasam 2 in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. Taking to Instagram, Rane stated he would not be part of the sequel “if there’s any chance of the previous cast returning,” implying disapproval of Mawra Hocane’s political stance. His statement included a pointed message against Mawra’s criticism of India’s Operation Sindoor, calling her remarks “unpardonable.”
