The hit Pakistani drama Jama Taqseem celebrated for its raw depiction of joint family dynamics has suddenly found itself at the center of a major controversy. The series, penned by renowned writer Sarwat Nazir and directed by Ali Hassan, has been earning praise for its heartfelt storytelling and lifelike characters. But now, its success has been clouded by serious plagiarism allegations that have left social media buzzing.
Fellow writer Misbah Ali Syed has accused the makers of Jama Taqseem of lifting the core idea, plot, and even emotional arcs from her novel Kaanch Se Saiban. In a strongly worded Instagram story, Misbah alleged that “entire chunks of the story have been copied without credit or consent.” She described the situation as “a painful act of creative theft,” expressing her dismay over what she calls a violation of intellectual property.
Misbah revealed that a fan first drew her attention to the uncanny similarities between her work and the drama. According to her, the resemblance isn’t just limited to a few scenes infact “it’s almost the same story told with different names.” Although Misbah hasn’t taken legal action yet, she insists that the overlap is “too blatant to dismiss.”
